I have been lucky enough to be one of Eddy's direct reports for the last year as part of the KPMG Digital Experiences team. As a leader, Eddy was instrumental in creating one of the strongest teams, both in performance and culture, that I have ever been a part of.He fostered an environment of openness, vulnerability and support, which allowed us succeed together in a high pressure and fast paced environment. As a designer, Eddy is knowledgable across all stages of the design process, and in a wide variety of fields. I worked with greater confidence, knowing that I would have his support if I started to get out of my depth. As a mentor, Eddy has supported my professional development and has helped me navigate a complex and high pressure working environment. He is patient and authentic. In summary, Eddy is a fantastic leader and designer, and I would feel lucky to work with him again in the future.

Eddy is a superb design leader. He is the kind of design leader who attracts dedicated talent who become loyal to him due to the ways of working that he embeds - resulting in both exceptional work and a great place to work. His teams have skills (no doubt) that he helps them to improve. This is coupled with the culture that Eddy creates - resulting in an intrinsic trust and therefore dedication when performing their design work. His leadership style let’s designers grow, but always with a pragmatic, creative, commercial and kind eye over their work so that he can help them to shape their outputs so that the their designs have the best impact for customers and for the business. It’s too easy to say that he is a servant leader. The reality is that Eddy seeks out opportunities for his team to be successful. He finds ways for them to take the spotlight, and to show their best work, all the while, giving them nudges and guidance. He also has a great style with stakeholders; he helps them to understand where to focus for optimal user/customer centricity and how his and his team’s designs help achieve this. He is an exemplary advocate for finding the right balance between best practice, innovation, customer centricity and business outcomes. This, joined with his affable rapport, leads to great relationships with the stakeholders who come into contact with his work.
